A new social hub in the ciy center. The example of the Krasinski Library as a reuse of an existing structure.
In the center of Warsaw there are plenty of abandoned buildings, closed and forgotten sometimes temporary occupied by the artistic movements. Complicated situation of their ownership, lack of funds for a repair and exploitation are the most often reason of that state. One of the examples of those emptiness is Krasinski Library at the Okólnik Street that since the Second World War has never returned to be a public building.
Project consists of adaptive reuse of existing structure with an extension of multilevel public space and an underground concert hall connected to the music university. New use of The building attempts to respond an idea of “active preservation” from Rem Koolhaas.
