Fab-shop-house in Goa
In correspondence with modern marketing systems developed in western countries, the new shop house in Goa consists of transparent workspace where customers get involved in the process of production. Customers from all over the world can connect to the workshop place, where they can see the unique designs made for one person and follow production process. Design of furniture, that could be table, chair or other objects made of wood, use the local resource – teak wood.
Elements of new shop-house finishing are made in the same technique and material, with the use of CNC machines by local people. Computer numerical controlled tools based on digital fabrication process, brought to the site in the first stage of the project development, allow local people to multiply design based on their knowledge in an easy and little time-consuming way.
The idea of the project is to show guidelines and example development of the building at the same time giving all freedom and flexibility for local designers to develop their proposals. Construction of one shop-house as a process of open-ended becoming starts like a tree – at one point and grows in different directions giving opportunities for new creations in neighbouring locations.
