The project is an example in search of alternative clean energy solutions, based on local resources (wave power) and being environmentally friendly. The idea is to propose in the region of Basque Country a wave-power station, instead of a nuclear power plant.

According to energy-efficiency reports, marine energy resulting from superficial winds and underwater energy flows, has more than 2000 GW of potential energy to be captured on the global scale. The wave energy around the Spanish North coast exceeds electricity demand along the year cycle and has the potential to generate wave energy at competitive prices.

Underwater skyscraper combines wave power utilities, hotel & spa resorts and a microbiology research center in the 145 meters high floating island. Program distribution can be accessed from the system of hydraulic lifts, located in the main core of the structure. Above the water surface, the space is occupied with a huge open-ended swimming pool, where floor levels react to the amount of water (weight), according to the wave path frequency and Archimedes’ principle. At the same time, in the bottom level of the oceans water, vertical hydro-turbines charge the power from the circulation flows.
